That my favourite band is Mötley Crüe is hard to miss I guess...

I thought that I will recommend what two of the members have been doing "off Mötley".

Nixxi Sixx:
Nikki Sxx created rock band Sixx:A.M together with James Michaels and DJ Ashba, in 2007. They have so far released two albums.

It is said that this side project is made by Nikki Sixx to help people who are drug addicts, and is in the same position as he was in '86-'87, the time span his book "Heroin Diaries" is about.

Tommy Lee:
Together with Jason Newsted and Gilby Clarke he hosted the TV-show Rock Star Supernova, to find a singer for their new band, winner was Lukas Rossi. They have released on album.
